Shown in Lionels 1962 catalog as part of the Plainsman General set, this red Fort Knox mint car was nonetheless never produced. In its place was a silver version shown later in the catalog as a separate sale item. Perhaps the move was made to utilize available inventory or to reduce the offerings from two to one. Whatever the case, at long last you can own the red version 39 years later.
